Yet another big internet firm has released a messenger program. This time it was Google who decided to launch a messenger. Not very surprising, what surprised some people is the fact that it isnt web-based, but a “real” program.
Download squad [via kottke] has a small review and some screenshots on their site.
You can download the messenger here.
So what does this give us users? Besides a clean looking messenger, without all the clutter and rubbish MS and Yahoo has filled their clients with. In my eyes, not much. Actually it only ads to the bundle of messengers, we have sitting in the tray taking up memory. Maybe thats the price us, the users, have to pay to be able to communicate with each other.
Ive jumped of that wagon some time ago and just installed Miranda, and added all my accounts in this great little messenger.
The greatest news to me is that Miranda have been quick and added support for Google talk.
My Googletalk username is: daysleeper. Feel free to send/ping me a msg, if you wanna know if your client works.
